Why I’m Running: It’s Time to Fix Roy
Hello everyone,
A few years back, a friend of mine often stopped by, full of complaints about Roy. I told him, “If you don’t vote, you can’t complain.” So, he started voting and getting informed. But he came back, “I’m voting, and things still aren’t changing.” That stuck with me.
It made me wonder: Is voting enough?
Two years later, that question still echoes in my heart. That’s why I’m standing here today—because I love this city, and I believe it’s time to take the next step. I’m running for city council to help move Roy forward and to inspire more people to feel as proud of this community as I do.
Fixing Our Home
When something in your home isn’t quite right, you don’t tear it down; you fix it. You remodel, update, and take care of what matters. That’s how I see Roy: a great city with good bones that just needs thoughtful improvement.
We’re fortunate to have one of the safest communities around—our crime rate is nearly 50% lower than the national average. That’s thanks to our incredible police force. But here’s the issue: we’re paying them 14% less than surrounding cities. That’s not right. They give more, and they deserve more.
The same goes for our amazing firefighters. Just this year, they saved a home in our neighborhood from going up in flames. Quick action, real dedication—and yet, we pay them less than nearby cities do. Roy has nine beautiful parks and a strong community spirit. Let’s make sure we keep the people who make that possible.
Smart Growth & Fair Taxes
Now, let’s talk about property taxes. Nobody likes them, but they’re necessary. My goal is to ease that burden. By encouraging responsible growth, maintaining affordable housing, and bringing in new businesses, we can spread the cost more fairly and relieve pressure on homeowners.
I also have some outside-the-box ideas that I’d love to share in person—because good leadership means listening and collaborating with the people who live here.
Finally, I want to find new ways to generate revenue so we can give our police, fire departments, and parks the resources they deserve—without putting it all on the backs of homeowners.
Roy: Our Family, Our Future
Roy feels like home to me—and that makes us all family. Like any family, we have all types: different ideas, different concerns, and yes—even the weird uncle. But that’s what makes this community strong.
It’s time for change. It’s time for someone who’s willing to do the hard work with heart.
Roy needs a Rebel.
Thank you.
